Working With Eclipse
Whenever you make the decision to look for a new job the whole process can sometimes appear to be overwhelming or off putting.
At Eclipse we want your search for new career opportunities to be as hassle free and straight forward as possible. We’ve put together some commonly asked questions for you - if there is anything not covered that you would like to ask us then we’ll be very happy to assist.
Does Eclipse have the right role for me?
If we have a suitable role for you then we will talk to you about it straight away, making sure you know all the pros and cons so that you can make an informed decision. If you are keen on the position then we will prepare your details and forward them on to our client ASAP.
If we don’t have a suitable role right away then we will keep in regular contact with you until we do find the right role. Once we do have the perfect position we will be on the phone straight away to discuss the opportunity in more detail.
What if I see Eclipse advertising a role I’m interested in?
We advertise our roles on the follwoing websites, Seek (www.seek.co.nz), Trade me (www.trademe.co.nz) and Spot Jobs (www.spotjobs.co.nz)
If you see something that is of interest to you, call or email us and let us know. We’ll be able to answer any questions you may have, and together we will be able to decide if the role matches up to what you are seeking.
What happens once my details have gone to your client?
After we’ve sent your details to our client, we follow up for feedback and to see if they are keen to meet you. The next step then is to arrange a convenient time for them to interview you. We will assist you with your interview preparation if you need us to, and will be available to answer any questions you may have.
What happens after the interview?
As soon as possible after your interview you should contact your Eclipse consultant to give them your feedback on how the interview went.
It’s really important that you let us know if you are still keen on the role and whether you have any concerns at all. If you really want the job do not be afraid to let us know this! Also, if you think of any questions for our client after you’ve left the interview, we can follow this up for you.
Will I have to have more than one interview?
The number of times our clients will want to meet with you will vary.
Some clients are happy to meet candidates once and are confident that they can make a decision from the one interview. Other clients will need to meet with you two or three times either to ask different questions or for you to meet different members of the team.
Remember that it is just as important for you to be happy with your potential new employer as it is for them to be happy with you.
What if I can’t make the interview time?
If anything comes up and you can’t make the interview time that has been arranged, please call Eclipse as soon as you can and let us know. We can then keep our client informed, and arrange a new time that suits all parties.
What happens if I am going forward for more than one position?
If you are going forward for more than one position with Eclipse then we’ll be aware of this and are able to manage the situation for you.
If you are going forward for a role with Eclipse whilst also being considered for another position with another agency or company then it is important that you keep us in the loop. This is so that we are able to keep our clients fully informed and ensure that they arrange interviews and make decisions quickly.
When do you contact my referees?
If you are currently in a permanent role then we will not take verbal references until the final stages of the recruitment process and we will not talk to any of your referees without talking to you first.
How do I know if I have been offered a role?
Once Eclipse receives an employment offer for you we will be in touch straight away and talk you through the offer. We will have information about the remuneration package being offered including salary level and any benefits.
If you are happy with everything then you let us know that you are keen to accept and we will advise our client. If you would like time to think the offer through that is absolutely fine. Normally we will set a time for you to come back to us so that we can keep our client fully informed.
What about salary negotiations?
During your initial interview with Eclipse we will discuss your salary expectations with you. We will also ask you what your salary expectations are for a particular role we discuss with you.
When it comes to negotiating your salary level with a client, we act as the “middle man”, so you don’t need to discuss salary directly with the client.
What if I change my mind about the salary I’m seeking?
It is important that you are happy with the salary level you have agreed, as changing your mind down the track can cause difficulties and can result in you losing a potential offer of employment.
If you change your mind at any time about your ideal salary, please let us know straight away. That way we can ensure that when we approach you about potential new roles, they are at the right level for you.
How do I accept a role that is offered
Once you have accepted a permanent position with one of Eclipse’s clients we will let our client know straight away and they would normally send out a written offer and employment contract to you directly. If you have any questions regarding your employment contract your consultant will be more than happy to assist with this.
What about once I’ve started my new job?
Once you have started in your new position Eclipse will remain in contact with you to see how you are settling in to your new role and to make sure that your first few months (and beyond) go smoothly.
