Temping for Eclipse

Temping for Eclipse

At Eclipse we want you to really enjoy temping for us and to truly feel that you are a member of our team. To help you with this we have put together some information to guide you through the whole process.

What is temping?

In this busy employment market our clients need to be able to react to situations quickly and one of the ways of doing this is to hire temporary staff for short or long term assignments depending on their needs.

To meet these needs Eclipse provides their clients with experienced staff to provide the additional help they require. Assignments vary greatly from reception positions through to project roles etc. It is important that all Eclipse temps are flexible, proactive and professional.

How do I become a temp?

To become an Eclipse temp you will need to meet with one of our consultants for an interview to run through your work experience and we will also need to complete two reference checks. Once this is completed you are ready to start temping for Eclipse.

When I’m available for work how often do I need to be in contact with Eclipse?

You need to always keep us up to date with your availability and the best way to do this is to phone or email us every couple of days when you are free to work and also a week before an assignment is due to finish so that we can note when you are available.

What information do I receive about assignments?

As soon as we have a suitable assignment for you one of our consultants will give you a call to talk through the details and to see if you are happy to commit to the assignment. At this stage we will give you as much information as possible to enable you to prepare for your temporary position.

What do I do on my first day of an assignment?

You’ll need to make sure you have correct details with you about what time to start, where to go and who to report to.

It’s important that you make a good impression on your first day. Your personal presentation should be of a high standard. Allow enough time to find parking without being rushed. If you are unsure of where you are going familiarise yourself the day before, check on a map or give your consultant a call.

How often do I need to be in touch with Eclipse when I’m on an assignment?

When you are temping for Eclipse you will receive calls from your consultant regularly to see how everything is going. If you need to contact your consultant between calls please give them a call - they will always be happy to hear from you.

Will I be employed by Eclipse or the company I am temping for?

Eclipse will be your employer whenever you are working on an assignment so it is vital that you keep in regular contact with us and let us know how you are getting along.

How do I get paid?

Your pay will be deposited weekly into your bank account on a Thursday night so that your money is available for you on Friday morning. It is important that you provide us with your correct IRD number and tax code to ensure you are taxed at the correct rate.

You will receive a pay slip by post detailing the number of hours you have worked, the hourly rate, your gross and net pay and tax paid.

Who is responsible for my timesheet and when does it need to be completed by?

You are responsible for your own timesheet and it is important that you complete this correctly and make sure you have it signed by your supervisor weekly or at the end of an assignment. You will then need to fax it through to Eclipse no later than 5pm on the Monday following.

How do I claim my holiday pay?

Holiday Pay is accrued hourly (6% of your hourly rate). You can only claim holiday pay that you have accrued and this is payable to you when you take annual leave. If you secure permanent work or decide that you no longer want to temp then you need to let us know and we will pay you any holiday pay that you are due.

What happens if I run out of timesheets?

All you need to do is give us a call and we will email or fax a timesheet through to you.

What happens at the end of an assignment?

Once you know when your assignment is coming to an end please call Eclipse immediately so that we can start looking out for future assignments straight away.

What do I do if I am too sick to go to an assignment or I’m running late?

If you are running late then it is important you phone your consultant to let them know and then they can let the client know too.

If you are sick and unable to attend an assignment then you must phone your consultant straight away to let them know so they can advise the client. If you are in a long term assignment it is always a good idea for you to ring the company as well as Eclipse.
